Lisa Walker, APRN, BSN,MSN, CNS-PA, CEO

The story of Health Systems 2000 began in 1993 when Lisa Walker accepted a position as Administrator/Director of Nursing for a local home health care agency in Lake Charles.  A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Lisa is a proud graduate of Washington High School and McNeese State University, where she earned both bachelors’ and master’s degrees in Nursing.  She is an Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist.

After ten years’ experience in acute care, long-term care, and administrative nursing management, Lisa had her first encounter with home health care and discovered her niche.  She found home health to be both challenging and rewarding.

Ironically, at this same time, the State of Louisiana had lifted a long-standing moratorium on licensing new home health care agencies.  Seizing this small window of opportunity, Lisa took a giant leap of faith and opened a home health care agency of her own.  She was supported in this new endeavor by a small group of close family members and friends.

Lisa started the company in 1994 as a home-based business.  Health Systems 2000 is currently the parent organization of Home Health Care 2000; Personal Care Services 2000; and Home Medical Equipment 2000.

The company started with one agency and today services over 2000 patients annually throughout the state.  As the parent company, Health Systems 2000 coordinates administrative activities throughout the organization.   Under Lisa’s direction, Health Systems 2000 has grown to be one of the largest free-standing home health care agencies and employs over 300 individuals.   Since 1996, Home Health Care 2000 has achieved and currently maintains the “gold standard” of health care and carries the seal for National Quality Approval, which is Joint Commission Accreditation on Health Care Organization.

At the start of the new millennium, both the organization and Mrs. Walker were recognized by the State of Louisiana’s Department of Economic Development and the presiding Governor Mike Foster as the “Business Person of the Year” in Region Five.

As a noted Trailblazer, Mrs. Walker is committed to paving the way for others.  She spearheaded and established a team of dedicated professionals to enhance her vision of giving back.  To address the needs of the nursing shortage the organization has awarded over one hundred and sixty Nursing Scholarships throughout the state.  They have established a non-profit foundation to address the high incidence of diabetes in our state and offers diabetic care and community education.  The Foundation has awarded numerous hospice care grants to individuals with “end of life” diagnoses, as well as many sponsorships and other charitable giving.

Under the direction of Lisa Walker, the organization supports and funds free health care seminars, health screenings, and events that focus on educating and informing the public on ways to maintain a healthy state of wellness.

Through its’ mission, Health Systems 2000 strives to serve the community by providing preeminent quality home health care which demonstrates their continued commitment to excellence, professionalism, and genuine compassion.

Mrs. Walker has been presented many awards, accolades and distinguished recognitions throughout her career.  For the last ten years, Health Systems 2000 has been honored as one of the “Top 50 Businesses in Southwest Louisiana.
